KEY CLUBS AND KEY CLUB SCHOLARSHIPS
Our club sponsors Key Clubs at each of the two public high schools in Wichita Falls (Legacy and Memorial). Key Clubs are a student led service leadership program teaching students the value of community service and leadership skills. The clubs have faculty sponsors as well as University Kiwanis Club members who serve as advisors.

Clubs assist the University Kiwanis Club with some of our projects (Pancake Festival, Concession Stand, Kite Day, playground upkeep) as well as developing their own service projects. We provide funding to these clubs to assist them with their efforts and support their attendance at the District Key Club Convention where they learn leadership skills and learn about other service projects.

Our club will be awarding three $2,000 scholarships to senior Key Club members for attendance at any accredited college or university.

UNIVERSITY KIWANIS PARK
This is our namesake park. Proceeds from the concession stand go to help with improvement and upkeep of the park. This is a 60-acre park on the southwest side of the city and contains a prairie dog town, a kite-flying area, 4 baseball fields used by the YMCA for organized games, two playgrounds with another under construction, a pavilion, and several picnic shelters.

CIRCLE K AND CIRCLE K SCHOLARSHIPS
Circle K is the college-level student service organization. There is a chapter at MSU Texas which
we are attempting to reactivate. These students assist with club projects and have independent service projects. When active, we give four $500 scholarships per semester to student members of the club.

UNIVERSITY KIWANIS PARK PLAYGROUNDS
The city constructed a 5-12 year old playground with funds received from the concession stand over the years. In 2021 the club, along with generous grants received, constructed a playground for 2-5 year old children (total cost of about $220,000). We are currently conducting an expansion of these playgrounds and are in the process of having a longer zipline installed by the city. The expansion project has two more phases being planned at present which will be installed as funds become available. The expansion will include more challenging play elements for children.

KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL
We donate to Kiwanis International and its Worldwide Service Project, $1,000 in 2025.

OTHER PROJECTS
Kite Day–We plan to continue hosting a Kite Day (last Saturday of March, weather permitting) at
University Kiwanis Park. Last year we gave away 100 kites and helped children learn to fly them.
Pun’kin Chunk—in 2024 we hosted our first annual Pun’kin Chunk at Lake Wichita Park with
permission from the City. Donors funded the building of a large trebuchet with which to chuck the
pumpkins into a wildlife area.
